VSL Script Template

Sacred written knowledge, like the papyri of Thoth, the Egyptian god of writing and wisdom.

The proven sales video structure, laid out beat by beat.

How the script works

A sales video has one job: move a viewer from "this is interesting" to "I want this" without them feeling pushed. It does that in a fixed order. Each beat answers the question the viewer is silently asking at that moment. Skip a beat and the question stays open, and an open question is a reason to click away.

Write every beat below in order. Read each line out loud as you go; if it sounds like writing, rewrite it until it sounds like talking.

Act one: earn the next minute

01

The hook

The viewer is asking: why should I keep watching? Name a result they want or a problem they have, then promise the answer is coming.

If you are a [buyer] who [situation], the next [minutes] will show you [result] without [pain]…
"If you run a small agency and every new client comes from a referral you did not plan, the next twelve minutes show you how to book calls on purpose."
02

Who it is for

Asking: is this about me? Describe them so precisely they nod. Say who it is not for.

This is for you if [condition], [condition] and [condition]. If you [disqualifier], this will not help…
03

Why listen to you

Asking: who are you to say this? Two or three sentences of relevant proof. Not a life story.

I am [name]. I have [specific relevant thing you did], and I learned [the insight this video is built on]…

Act two: change what they believe

04

The problem, in their words

Asking: do you understand my situation? Describe the daily frustration better than they could. Use details from real conversations.

Right now you are probably [what they do], hoping [what they hope], and still [what happens]…
05

What they already tried

Asking: why would this be different? List the usual fixes and say plainly why each falls short. No mocking; they chose those for good reasons.

You might have tried [fix one], which fails because […]. Or [fix two], which fails because […]…
06

The real cause

Asking: so what is actually wrong? Reveal the root cause they have not seen. This is the turning point of the whole video; it moves blame off them and onto something fixable.

The reason none of that worked is not you. It is [hidden cause]…
"The reason ads never worked for you is not the ads. It is that they send cold strangers straight to a sales call."
07

The mechanism

Asking: what fixes that cause? Name your method and walk through its parts, usually three. Explain what each part does, not every detail of how.

The [Name] works in three parts. First [part one, what it does]. Then [part two]. Finally [part three]…
08

Proof

Asking: does it work for people like me? Real results only, each one matched to an objection: a beginner, a skeptic, someone in a hard market.

[Name], who [situation like the viewer's], used this to [specific result]…

Act three: make the yes easy

09

The offer

Asking: how do I get it? Introduce the offer as the fastest way to apply the mechanism. Then list what is included, each item as an outcome.

The fastest way to put the [Name] to work is [offer]. Here is everything you get…
10

Price and comparison

Asking: is it worth it? Compare the price to the cost of the problem or of the alternatives, then state it plainly.

Staying where you are costs [real cost]. [Alternative] would cost [amount]. The investment today is [price]…
11

The guarantee

Asking: what if it does not work for me? Take the risk on yourself with a specific condition.

If you [do the work] and do not [result] within [time], I will [remedy]…
12

Why now

Asking: can I do this later? Only real reasons: limited capacity, a deadline, a price change, or the cost of another month of the problem.

This is open until [date] because [true reason]. And every month you wait costs [cost]…
13

Two paths and the call to action

Asking: what exactly do I do? Contrast staying the same with taking the step, then give one clear instruction and repeat it.

You can keep [current path], or you can [new path]. Click the button below to [exact next step]…

Length guide

Script edit checklist

  • The first sentence names a result or a problem, not your name.
  • The real cause in beat 06 is something the viewer has never heard put that way.
  • Every proof point maps to a specific objection.
  • Every claim is true and can be shown.
  • No sentence is longer than one breath.
  • The call to action names the exact button and what happens after the click.
  • The page under the video repeats the hook as its headline.
