Funnel Templates
The Emerald Tablet of Hermes and the Rosetta Stone: the key that decodes what others cannot read.
Page by page funnel layouts for leads, calls and sales.
Every page has one job
A funnel is a short chain of pages, and each page exists to get exactly one action. When a page asks for two things, it usually gets neither. Below are the page layouts for the three funnels most businesses need: one for leads, one for calls, one for sales. Each layout lists its blocks top to bottom, with what goes in each.
Build the blocks in order. Write the headline first; every other block exists to support it.
The lead funnel
Page 1: opt-in
- Headline: the specific result the freebie gives.
- Subhead: who it is for and how fast it works.
- Image: a picture of the freebie itself (cover, page preview or screen).
- Three bullets: what they will find inside, each written as a benefit.
- Form: first name and email only. Button text says what they get: "Send me the guide".
- Small print: a line on privacy. No navigation, no footer links.
Page 2: thank you
- Confirmation: "Check your inbox. [Freebie] is on its way."
- Next step: one offer, either a low-priced product or a call, with a short reason to take it now.
- Button: to that next step.
The call funnel
Page 1: the pitch page
- Headline: the result, for the named buyer.
- Video: a short sales video above the fold, with the main button directly under it.
- Who it is for, who it is not for: two short lists.
- How it works: three steps from first call to result.
- Proof: real results and quotes, each with a name and a situation.
- Frequently asked questions: the five objections you hear most, answered plainly.
- Final button: repeat the call to action.
Page 2: application
Four to six questions that sort fit from no fit. Use these as a starting set:
- What do you do, and who do you serve?
- Where are you now on [the key number]?
- Where do you want it to be in [timeframe]?
- What have you already tried?
- If this is a fit, are you able to invest [range] to fix it?
- Why now?
Page 3: calendar
Headline: "Pick a time". Show the next few days only. Short line on what the call covers and how long it takes.
Page 4: confirmation
- Confirmation: day, time and how to join.
- Prepare: two or three things to have ready.
- Watch before the call: one short video or case study that answers the most common question.
The sales funnel
Page 1: sales page
- Headline and subhead: the result and the mechanism behind it.
- Problem: their situation in their words.
- Why the usual fixes fail: the alternatives and their weak spots.
- The method: what makes this work, in three parts.
- What is inside: every component as an outcome.
- Proof: results, quotes, screenshots you have permission to use.
- Price: compared to the cost of the problem or the alternatives.
- Guarantee: specific condition, specific remedy.
- Frequently asked questions.
- Final call to action, with the deadline if one is real.
Page 2: checkout
- Order summary: product name, what is included, price.
- Payment form: as few fields as your processor allows.
- Order bump: one tick box for a small add-on that makes the main purchase faster or easier.
- Reassurance: guarantee line and a short quote next to the button.
Page 3: one-click upsell
- Headline: "Wait, your order is not complete" or a direct statement of the next result.
- Why this, why now: how it builds on what they just bought.
- Price and two buttons: "Yes, add it" and "No thanks".
Page 4: thank you and access
- Confirmation and how to get access.
- First step: the one thing to do in the next ten minutes.
- Where to get help.
Numbers to watch
Record your own baseline before changing anything, then set a target. Change one block at a time, and give each change enough traffic to judge it.
| Page | Number | Your baseline | Your target |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opt-in | Visitors who submit the form | ||
| Thank you | Leads who take the next step | ||
| Pitch page | Visitors who start the application | ||
| Calendar | Booked calls who show up | ||
| Sales page | Visitors who reach checkout | ||
| Checkout | Checkouts that complete | ||
| Upsell | Buyers who say yes |
